What was Going On in the World When Mozart was Alive?

The common themes embraced by some of the more popular composers, are those that include nature and musical interpretations of grand spaces and panoramas.

Some of this music was written at a time when many musicians lived in crowded villages and cities throughout Europe, when access to the countryside was not like it was today.

Also during the times of these composers, a renewed interest in the natural world and in the potential of new discovery was a shared theme in the other Western arts like literature and fine art.

Off in the distance America's pioneer settlements was an ongoing adventure whose essence of hope and triumph over adversity resonated in the hearts and minds of Europeans and elsewhere.

For the later composers like Debussy, Herbert and Tchaikovsky, (1800's - 1900's) 'Romanticism' - a mode of creating from intuition and feeling - had a strong part in their music and enhancing its emotional power.

With classical music it is easy to see how grand musical arrangements form dramatic layered backdrops to the main passages in these musical pieces, each giving a sense of space and providing a welcoming feel to one's eager entry into a new world of opportunity. (Much later when Hollywood movies became popular, a few filmmakers who set their stories in America used some of the musical styles from Romantisicm for their soundtracks)

Most classical music in this genre are without vocals too, which allows this music to be enjoyed by people from all languages and cultures.

Many of the qualities mentioned above make classical music the obvious choice as pregnancy music, since the intuition and bonding with the baby is such a natural process.

As one can see in the music titles listed in the Downloads section, the theme of nature also makes itself present in the titles of each work, even though the inclusion of nature sounds were not possible during the pre electronic age of the classical music composer.

Nature sounds however are now commonly recorded into contemporary relaxation music which will be featured soon in an upcoming update within the Mom's to Be music and Downloads section of Bellysonic.com.
