DANGER: Smoking While You're Pregnant!

by Bellysonic

smoking while pregnantSmoking while you’re pregnant isn’t just bad for your own health. You can be condemning your baby to a life full of heart disease.

Smoking – Burning Leaves in Your Mouth!

The research on adult smoking goes back 40+ years and shows without a single doubt that most people are not immune to the effects of sticking burning leaves in their mouths and then inhaling the smoke.

And not just ordinary leaves – leaves that are saturated with chemicals and addictive additives to make you a lifetime customer of the tobacco industry.

Bad enough you are screwing up your own life, but then you could do something about it – like quit. But what about the fetus you are carrying around. Do they have a chance to get out of the danger zone?

Here’s What Smoking Does to Your Baby!

Here’s what the CDC in Atlanta has to say about the subject:

Maternal cigarette smoking in the first trimester was associated with a 20 to 70 percent greater likelihood that a baby would be born with certain types of congenital heart defects, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defects, contributing to approximately 30 percent of infant deaths from birth defects annually.

“Successfully stopping smoking during pregnancy also lowers the chances of pregnancy complications such as preterm delivery and that an infant will have other complications such as low birth weight,” says Adolfo Correa, M.D., Ph.D., medical officer in CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities.

Give your baby a break – and your lungs, too, and just QUIT smoking!
