We have commented before in other posts that we think that the pregnant woman is indeed beautiful, and in a special way. And so can a woman be post-pregnancy as the sultry 46-year-old Monica Belluci shows so well in a new Italian film entitled Un ete brulant (A Scorching Summer) directed by Philippe Garrel.

Monica Bellucci “Sense of Abandonment”

She felt a sense of abandonment, she says, but at the same time respected and protected.

Director Garrel makes an interesting comment in an article on the Monsters and Critics website:

‘Once it was thought that the female soul did not exist, instead I have tried to portray this soul,’ Philippe Garrel said.

Indeed the Roman church long treated women as soul-less stemming from their infantile interpretation of the Garden of Eden story. Fitting that this film is being shown at the current Venice Film Festival in Italy, home of the infamous institution.

Monica Bellucci certainly has many qualities and being soul-less is surely NOT one of them. A beautiful lady with a beautiful soul!
